Sickle Cell Speaks

Sickle Cell Disease is a rare disease or also called orphan disease affecting primarily the black community and as such, carries a unique set of challenges and stigma. RIESTER RX, on behalf of Global Blood Therapeutics, conducted in-depth research involving interviews with patients, their caregivers, and family members in high prevalence areas across the US. 

Inspired and informed by the research findings, RIESTER RX created Sickle Cell Speaks, a stigma-defying campaign designed to give Sickle Cell Disease patients and caregivers a voice. The highly emotional campaign tells individual stories, educates about the cause and effects of the disease, inspires hope for everyone living with it, and demands respect for the patients and caregivers.  The campaign utilized a mix of paid media, paid social and public relations. This included a website, OTT video, social videos, consumer print, trade print, radio, and posters. 

Today, the Sickle Cell Speaks Facebook page has the highest following for any social channel across the Sickle Cell industry. Since the launch of the campaign, the Sickle Cell Speaks website has been visited more than 150,000 times.
